Christmas Wish List is only possible through volunteers like you!
Serving on Event Day
Registration is now open for serving at the Wish List event coming up on December 6-9th, 2023. We have expanded this year's event across 4 days to make space for even more families to experience hope! There are opportunities to serve in the kids party rooms, the free marketplace, the cafe, and so many more.
Thank you for understanding that childcare is provided for the families we are hosting during the event, but that childcare is NOT available for the Volunteer Team who are serving. Please plan to make other arrangements for your children during the event. The minimum age to serve at Wish List is age 14. Existing EC Kids Jr Leaders over age 10 are welcome to serve in the kids area.

Event Day Team Descriptions
GIFT INVENTORY TEAM - This team will be responsible for sorting and categorizing gifts during the event, and will be responsible for keeping the “mall” shelves stocked appropriately before each shopping session.
KIDS/YOUTH TEAM - This team will be responsible for creating a safe and exciting space for the children and youth to enjoy Christmas themed activities while their parents shop. This team will facilitate colouring, crafts, snacks, and more.
REGISTRATION TEAM - This team is responsible for verifying families’ appointment time and completing the sign-in process. They will be responsible for connecting each family with their Wish List Shopping Host.
FACILITIES TEAM - This team is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the facility. During the event they will work with every other team to ensure the facility has a presentation of excellence by removing trash, cleaning spills and ensuring everything is in working order. They will be making sure the facility is left better than it was before the event!
CAFE TEAM - This team is responsible for serving refreshments for both our guests and the teams serving. They will ensure the guests are given special focus by accommodating each guest's needs to the best of their ability - making sure they feel seen and known.
WELCOME TEAM - This team is responsible for setting the tone as the guests wait to enter the "mall" area. They will be a friendly face who will help parents drop off their kids, offer them refreshments, connect with them as they wait, and help them find their way.
GIFT WRAPPING TEAM - This team will be creating connecting and hope filled conversation for our guests while wrapping their carefully chosen Christmas gifts.
GIFT RUNNERS - This team’s role will be to help carry gifts out to guests' vehicles as needed and to help direct the guests as they pick up their kids and head on their way
Shift Times
There are seven volunteer shifts for the Christmas Wish List event. Please ensure you only sign up for shifts that you will be availiable for the whole thing:

Event Day - Special Teams
Our event day volunteer opportunites include a few roles that involve some extra training and skills. Check out the opportunities below to see if you qualify for any of these roles!
SHOPPING HOST
This hands on team will be connected with a family by the registration team. You will take your parent/guardian through their shopping experience by helping them choose gifts, bring them to the wrapping station as well as opportunity to pray for them before passing them off to the gift runners.
Who will qualify: Exisiting Experience Church Dream Team members involved in leading EC Groups, Freedom Leaders, Team Leads/Captains, Outreach Leaders, Youth Leaders, Prayer Team, Worship Team or similar. Must be age 18+.
EC Kids Jr. Leaders
If you are an existing EC Kids Jr Leader over age 10, there is room for you to serve at Wish List!

OTHER TEAMS
DREAM TEAM CENTRAL - Our volunteer team is such an essential part of Wish List! Join this team to help make sure they are fed and happy all event long.
Who will qualify: Anyone with an attention to detail, ability facilitatate meals and attend to the needs of the serve team.
SAFETY TEAM - This team will help make sure that Wish List is a safe space for everyone.
Who will qualify: Those with experience in event security or existing members of the EC Security team. Must be age 18+.
CAPTURE TEAM - This team will be a part of capturing the magic of Christmas Wish List with both photo and video, ensuring the highest dignity of attendees

Family Registration
One of the most important and fun aspects of Wish List is registering all the families to come and receive gifts! Join us as we blitz the neighbourhood and go door to door in a Calgary Housing community to invite families to come to Wish List!
